LimPiaR’s MISSION is to advance practices for waste reduction and raise ecological awareness through education. Our VISION is a cleaner and greener Puerto Rico where citizens are actively engaged in recycling, composting and gardening and communities thrive with sustainable systems.

LimPiaR’s work is focused on the island of Puerto Rico. In 2018, our work started in the community of Pinones. We continue to work closely with this community and the municipality of Loiza. In 2024 we started residential recycling initiatives in Condado.

LimPiaR takes a community first approach, engaging with residents, local leaders, schools, and other local organizations to understand how we can best serve the community’s needs regarding sustainable systems. With this approach we ensure the programs support the interest of the community.

We offer a variety of free educational programs in schools, community centers, and online. We focus on environmental stewardship, recycling, composting, and sustainability. These programs are designed to teach children and families practical skills that can be used each day while fostering a sense of responsibility for Puerto Rico’s natural resources.

Businesses can partner with us through sponsorships, volunteering, and co-hosting events. We offer corporate sponsorship packages that include recognition for your company’s contribution to sustainability efforts in Puerto Rico. We track a range of metrics, including participation in educational events, coastal cleanups, and recycling efforts. We also measure the volume of waste and recyclables collected. Through surveys and interviews we gather feedback from participants to continually improve our programs.

Yes! LimPiaR is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is also recognized under section 1101.1 of the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code, making your donation 100% tax-deductible in both the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Yes!  Once your donation is processed, you will receive an official confirmation via email from our co-founder, Jami. This will include all the necessary information for your tax return, including our tax ID number, the amount donated, and a statement confirming that no goods or services were provided in exchange for your donation. This receipt will meet the requirements for both U.S. federal and Puerto Rico tax filings.

At LimPiaR, we are committed to full transparency. Your donation will directly support our environmental and educational initiatives, including:

• Coastal cleanups and waste management training programs.
• Educational outreach focused on sustainability and recycling.
• Leadership training for eco-leaders in Puerto Rico.

Every dollar you donate goes toward long-lasting environmental and community sustainability efforts in Puerto Rico.

Yes! Direct bank transfer or check assures that we eliminate processing fees. However, we do accept donations through other payment methods on our website. You can use a credit card, PayPal or ATH. These payment methods do have processing fees. For large endowments, please contact our co-founder directly – jami@limpiar.org

There are processing fees when you choose to donate via credit card, PayPal or ATH. If possible, please donate via bank transfer or check to eliminate processing fees.

LimPiaR is a qualified nonprofit under Act 60 (formerly Act 22)!  LimPiaR is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, certified under section 1101.01 of the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code. We are an ideal organization for individuals under Act 60 (formerly Act 22) who are required to make annual donations to nonprofits in Puerto Rico. Yes, absolutely! By setting up a recurring donation, you support our mission on an ongoing basis. You will have the option to choose the frequency of your donation—monthly, quarterly, or annually. Regular contributions help us plan long-term.

In addition to private donations, LimPiaR receives funds through various sources:

• Grants: In 2024, we received grants from FORD and NOAA to support environmental initiatives and eco-leadership programs.
• Corporate Sponsorships: Business sponsorships with our coastal cleanups and other community events help us expand our reach while giving our sponsors visibility.
• Fundraising Events: We host and participate in events that raise awareness and funds for our cause.
• Merchandise Sales:  By purchasing eco-friendly products at our events or buying the book we commissioned on the ecology of Piñones, you can help generate funds and promote our mission of sustainability. • Partnership with The Pickup Place Consignment Shop: The Pickup Place is a consignment retail store. When you donate household items such as furniture, lamps, decorative items, dishes, etc. under LimPiaR’s account, we receive 50% of the sell. This partnership aligns with our mission of rethinking, reusing, recycling and repurposing goods from your home.
